1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Many believers struggle with truly understanding God, the Bible, and their own spiritual walk because they’ve never been taught how God designed them.
You are not just a mind or a body—you are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body.
Without understanding this divine design, it’s easy to misinterpret spiritual growth, confuse emotions with truth, and live reactive instead of responsive lives.
This truth is not just theological—it’s transformational.
It explains why someone can be saved for years, attend church faithfully, and still feel stuck, disconnected, or immature.
Growth doesn’t happen by church attendance alone.
You must learn to live from your spirit—the part of you made alive in Christ.
Your spirit is the eternal core of your being—the “inner man” that comes alive when you’re born again.
It’s in your spirit that you are sealed by the Holy Spirit, made righteous, and united with God.
Romans 7:22 (NKJV)
“For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.”
Learning to locate your spirit doesn’t happen overnight.
It takes time and intentionality.
It’s not about emotions or thoughts—it’s about discerning the voice and promptings of God from within.
People can read the Bible their entire life and still operate from their soul or flesh.
Information alone doesn’t equal transformation.
James 1:22
“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
It’s the doing, the applying, and the surrendering that causes spiritual growth.
Your soul—your mind, will, and emotions—is where daily transformation occurs.
The spirit receives truth, but the soul must be renewed to agree with that truth.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Spiritual maturity is when your soul submits to the spirit
and begins to reflect what God already sees in you.
For example, when a man begins to love his wife sacrificially—not because he feels like it,
but because it’s what the Word says—he starts to grow from the inside out.
When he practices esteeming others better than himself, as Philippians 2:3 teaches,
he’s not just becoming a better person—
he’s becoming a more spiritual man.
Your body connects you to the natural world.
It’s not evil, but it can become a tool for either righteousness or sin depending on who’s leading it.
1 Corinthians 9:27
“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection…”
Your body simply follows the strongest influence—
whether that’s your renewed spirit or your untrained emotions.
True spiritual order is when the spirit leads, the soul agrees, and the body obeys.
There was a businessman who built fast and made big moves.
He was bold, confident, and impulsive.
He trusted his gut, but his “gut” often led him into losses, strained relationships, and burnout.
He attended church but never slowed down long enough to discern the difference between his own ambition and God’s quiet direction.
One day, after another failed venture, he broke down.
A mentor told him,
“You don’t need more business insight—you need to learn how to listen to your spirit.”
That moment changed everything.
He started praying quietly each morning, asking God to guide his spirit, not just his mind.
Instead of rushing decisions, he waited.
He learned to test his thoughts, slow down, and respond from within.
He still took bold steps—but now they were led steps.
Peace became his confirmation.
Over time, his business stabilized, his family life was restored,
and most importantly, he discovered who he really was—
not just a businessman, but a spiritual man.
Jesus didn’t speak to everyone the same way.
Even then, some things were reserved for the secret place.
You don’t share your most intimate encounters publicly.
Growth happens in private, not performance.
We must never become so spiritual in appearance that we disconnect from people.
Jesus was deeply spiritual,
yet He ate with sinners, connected with the broken, and walked in humility.
He shows us how to carry the presence of God without becoming religious or unrelatable.
The Bible is a divine gift—it reveals what we need to know about God.
But God, in His fullness, is too great to be contained in a book.
That’s why He sent His Spirit to dwell within us,
so we can walk with Him daily.
Reading the Bible won’t change you unless you do what it says.
Spiritual growth is not about collecting verses—
it’s about applying truth, loving others, and living from your spirit.
You are a spirit.
You have a soul.
You live in a body.
When you understand this, everything changes:
This is the path to real growth—
the path that unlocks the real you.
